I just enjoy a bowl of excellent pozole, so chunky it's almost a stew! Full of spicy flavors and texture. The tamale de birria that I had was also beyond expectations. I highly recommend El Fenix!

Best breakfast burritos in town. I usually go with the chorizo and potato but the bacon is also very good. Generally medium to large size and very filling. Fresh pico and several types of salsas at the end are perfect complements. I've had some hit and misses at lunch with some very small portions but breakfast has been consistently good. It is more expensive than I would expect from a carniceria but the burros are usually big enough to satisfy all day!

This is the most amazing and flavorful Mexican food I've had. Every bite is like a flavor bomb and there's so many layers or flavor to every bite. Everything feels like it is from scratch and they care about using great quality ingredients. After eating here, other places just taste bland. The service is always friendly and they remember you when you return. Love how the ambiance of the store and food all combine to give you a family run business feel so you know what you're getting is just great food.

El Fenix is a small Mexican market with its own meat counter and a deli. You can get authentic Mexican food like lengua, manzano, and chicharrone among other meats. Pozole is available daily but menudo only on weekends. Tacos are $2.50 each on Taco Tuesday, both crispy or street style tacos. For non-Spanish speaker like me, service can be challenging. So we communicated by me pointing to the item and they nodded. I pay for my food at the market checkout so there is no tipping required. There is no seats inside but a few tables and chairs outdoors. I already visited this place a couple of times now and I'm likely to come back for more.

Even though I moved form Rancho Santa Margarita, where this store is located, I still come here to buy meats, chicharrón, Colombian socas, queso, etc. Still one of our favorite Hispanic stores around. You can come and order some tacos, enchiladas, burritos by the Carniceria side and you can eat them outside, they have a nice and shaded seating area right outside the store. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Cashier is usually quick and kind with your food!
